Standing on Piazza Marina, the beautiful Galletti Palace, acquired by the Marquis of San Cataldo Nicolo Galletti in the 18th century, dates back to the late Gothic of the late 13th century, modified in the 16th.
The Galletti also held titles and fiefs in Sicily, such as Princes of Fiumesalato.

This palace, located at no. 46 of Piazza Marina, is one of the historic residences that mark the evolution of late Gothic style in Sicily before the alterations of the Renaissance and the 19th century.

Architecture and visit

The facade and the interior were remodeled by the architect Tommaso di Chiara around 1870 in a hybrid or romantic neo-Gothic style, with the crenellated tower and the decorations of the openings.

Galletti Palace, Piazza Marina, in Palermo

Galletti Palace

The palace includes along the streets portals and windows with Renaissance marble cornices with sculpted details, including a portal with the family coat of arms, evidence of the 16th-century decorations.
Like many Sicilian noble mansions, it results from the aggregation of older building bodies, sometimes dating back to the late 13th century.

The interior part preserves important portions from the 16th century, including the avenues and their Renaissance portals, the windows and marble frames engraved from the same period. Some rooms retain remains of the loggias and decorations with plant motifs.
The entrance atrium is covered with a beautiful late Gothic vault with its elaborate keystones and arches.
Nowadays the palace houses administrative offices.
